A Direct Message From the Candidate to the Voter

Nanaimo Votes 2026 provides candidates with an opportunity to present their priorities, qualifications and reasons for seeking public office directly to local voters.

These are not endorsements, news reports or opinions written by Nanaimo Votes 2026. They are clearly identified, paid campaign messages submitted and authorized by the candidates or their campaigns.

All candidates are offered the same rates, space, format and conditions. Purchasing advertising does not influence candidate listings, news coverage, editorial comment or the examination of a candidate’s public record.

Why Advertise Here?

Voters searching online for information about Nanaimo’s 2026 election are already finding Nanaimo Votes 2026.

As of August 2026, a Google search for “Nanaimo Election Candidates 2026” placed Nanaimo Votes 2026 on the first page of results, immediately following official government election pages.

That gives candidates an opportunity to reach people who are not simply browsing social media—they are actively looking for information about the election and the people seeking office.

Advertising early provides two additional advantages: a longer period before voters and an earlier position within the appropriate candidate category. Messages remain in the order in which completed purchases are confirmed.

Search results may vary according to date, location, device and search history. No particular Google ranking or number of views is guaranteed.

Candidate Packages Apply to One Candidate

Each advertised package applies to one named candidate seeking one elected office and includes one candidate photograph.

Candidate packages may not be used to display a slate or group photograph, promote additional candidates or ask voters to support a slate of candidates. A slate, elector organization or group wishing to advertise multiple candidates must contact Nanaimo Votes 2026 for separate pricing and authorization requirements.

Earlier Purchase Means Earlier Position

Paid candidate messages will be displayed within each office category in the order in which completed advertising purchases are confirmed.

A purchase is considered confirmed when the final advertisement has been approved by the campaign’s financial agent, all required authorization information has been received and the PayPal invoice has been paid in full.

Candidates who complete the process earlier receive an earlier position and a longer publication period. Positions will not be reserved without completed material, campaign approval and payment.

Equal Opportunity—No Endorsement

Paid candidate-message space is offered on the same published terms to candidates seeking the same office. Advertising purchases do not affect the free candidate directory or determine how candidates are covered elsewhere on either website.

Nanaimo Votes 2026 and Voice of Nanaimo reserve the right to reject material that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, misleading about voting procedures or missing the authorization information required under B.C. election law.

Acceptance of payment purchases advertising space only. It does not purchase an endorsement, favourable reporting, editorial approval or protection from legitimate public scrutiny.

Required Authorization

Every candidate message must include the name and contact information of the campaign’s financial agent and state that the advertising was authorized by that financial agent. The campaign is responsible for supplying and approving the correct authorization statement.

Example only:
Authorized by Jane Doe, financial agent for John Smith, campaign@email.ca.

Nanaimo Votes 2026 is an independently published voter-information website and is not affiliated with the City of Nanaimo, Elections BC, the Nanaimo Regional District or School District 68.
