Nanaimo cancelled a Ben Bankas show after 804 tickets had already been sold.
That is 804 people ready to spend money not just on tickets, but on restaurants, drinks, parking, and maybe even motel rooms.

Two days later, Bankas did three sold-out shows in New Westminster.

So the Port Theatre needs to answer a simple question: what exact rule was used to cancel this performance?

Free speech cannot be governed by whichever noisy group applies the most pressure on a given day. If a show breaks the law, there are laws to deal with it. If it does not, institutions should not be making panicked, knee-jerk decisions that erode freedom one cancelled event at a time.
