B.C. FINANCE MINISTER

Position available immediately.
Applicant will be responsible for managing billions in taxpayer dollars, rising debt, budget pressures, borrowing costs, taxation, economic risk, and the long-term financial direction of British Columbia.

This is a senior position.
It is not symbolic.
It is not decorative.
And it should not be treated like a reward for party loyalty.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 20 years experience

• Strong background in Accounting

• Strong background in Economics

• Strong background in Public Finance

• Strong background in Capital Markets

• Experience managing large and complex budgets

• Understanding of debt, deficits, interest costs, and credit ratings

• Ability to explain clearly where government money comes from and where it goes

Successful Applicant Must Be Able To

• read financial statements

• understand public accounts

• assess fiscal risk

• evaluate tax policy

• recognize the difference between essential spending and political spending

• say no when necessary

Need Not Apply If

• your main strength is messaging

• your experience is mostly political

• you think deficits don’t matter

• you believe taxpayers can absorb endless increases

• you cannot tell the difference between growth and government expansion

Compensation
