THREE RAISED CROSSWALKS = $300,000.00
From the department of creative ways to spend tax dollars comes this latest suggestion to utilize $ 300,000.
Raised crosswalks are becoming all the rage these days and seem quite popular with city staff who promote them as a way of enhancing the road crossing experience and slowing down traffic. They, by themselves, keep a whole design department busy.
The glorified speed bumps come for the low, low cost of a mere $100,000.00 each.
$100,000.00 for a long speed bump, for crying out loud. You can't make this stuff up.
This announcement comes on the heels of senior staff declaring a funding crisis with our aging infrastructure and uncertainty about how it can be funded.
Hey, I've got an idea?? What if we diverted $300,000.00 from the speed bump program and directed staff to take all that asphalt and fill in some potholes?
Just sayin'
