Mayor Krog was asked to give taxpayers more than 30 days to collect at least 10% of the electorate's signatures opposing the borrowing of $90 million.

As skilled a politician as the Mayor is, he could not disguise the disdain in his voice—disdain at the very idea that the electorate would question his judgment. After all he had been elected with an amazing mandate by less than 17%  of the electorate.

I have heard this attitude coming from the elected to the Council who seem to be of the opinion that, once elected, they had the consent of the electorate to do whatever the hell they want.
